Bruce Haack Kids LPs from Mississippi Records

Bruce Haack was a true pioneer, the definition of an artist who peaked "before their time". He's the original electronic music hacker (pun not attended). And a fine Canadian as well.

Born and educated in the great province of Alberta, he journeyed to NYC to study at Julliard. He spent the 1950's scoring for dance and theatre and writing pop songs for Dot Records (among others). By the early 1960's Haack was composing for and on synthesizers and electronic music devices (many that he build and designed himself).  Between 1962 and 69 he collaborated with dance teacher Esther Nelson on a number of innovative Children's records, hoping to inspire Children to open their minds (it was the 60's) and have fun.

Haack went on to record his classic meshing of psychedelia, classical forms and rock "Electric Lucifer" in 1969. (perhaps his most well-known recording). Hopefully the recordings he did with Raymond Scott around this time will surface.

He released 14 albums (and recorded several unreleased ones) before his death in 1988.

Much (if not all) of his work is available on CD via Japanese imports. Over the last few years a number of North American labels have reissued his LPS (on Vinyl) as well.

Mississippi Records just announced the release of two of Haack's and Nelson's Children's records "The Electronic Record For Children" and "The Wayout Record For Children".
